GFM Systems Ltd (formerly Gerard May Roofing) is a leading Irish commercial and industrial roofing company. Specialising in flat roofing, decking, metal and aluminium roofing, cladding and rainscreen systems. The company has served the Irish market for over 25 years. As part of our continued growth we wish to recruit an ambitious draftsman/woman to join our existing team of construction industry professionals.
Job title: Auto Cad technician, construction
Reporting to: Contracts Director
Location: Head office based in Clondalkin, West Dublin
Objectives of role:
To oversee the specific project design issues of external metal roofing, cladding and rainscreen from tender stage to completion. Working with a growing organisation this position offers excellent career progression. Must be AutoCAD proficient.
To produce the details and oversee the installation as per detail of roofing, cladding & rainscreen systems to the required design specifications and ensure the installation quality meets or exceeds the client’s expectations. Monitor materials deliveries and usage and request further materials in a timely fashion to meet progress requirements. To work within required budgets.
Responsibilities
The person for this job will report directly to the Contracts Director on a daily basis.
You will have full responsibility for the following on a daily basis:
- All current Health and Safety Regulations are complied with for the sites
- Ensuring the quality of workmanship during and at the final completion/snagging
- Liaising with the Contracts Manager & Design team in relation to detailing, procedure, and receipt of information
- Meeting or improving on an agreed drawings and details Programme with the contracts manager
- Completion of the works to the satisfaction of Main Contractor, Architects, Client & Design Team
- Attend & represent the company at site meetings
- Materials purchasing via Purchasing Department
- Programming and scheduling of works drawings and details
Skills and experience
- Must be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Strong I.T. and AutoCAD skills essential will be 2D AutoCAD proficient
- Knowledge and understanding of drawings essential
- Previous roofing, cladding, rainscreen & curtain walling experience an advantage but not essential
- Candidates must have their own transport
- Experience with roofing not essential but desirable
- A background in building construction or building design
- A proven knowledge of the Irish building industry
- Experience in large projects
- Strong technical knowledge
- Enthusiastic, energetic person who is eager to learn.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- A self starter who also works well as part of a team
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent Presentation skills
The successful candidate will be from a trades background and have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position in the construction industry. Full clean driving licence
English to a native speaker and writer standard.
